It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
