Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered condolences for the star in the following the terrible crash.
